From our Campaign Co-Chairs, to our Steering Committee, and generous donors who come from all over the state of South Dakota, their stories behind the “Why” they donate anything from time, to their expertise, and money are truly inspiring. Each one, guided by LifeScape’s mission, vision, values, and culture.
Steve Jobs, technological visionary of our time, said, “I want to put a ding in the universe,” and he urged others to do the same. He believed in the power of the individual to change the world for good. He advanced technologies that would improve the quality of life for people everywhere. At the age of 56, Steve Jobs died of cancer, but the universe is still resounding. We feel it here in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
Recently on our campus, a ten-year-old girl named Lucy, greeted her parents with the first words they had ever heard her speak. She said, “Hi, my name is Lucy.” Those simple words brought her parents to tears. Lucy generated her speech using her eyes and a communication device provided by LifeScape.
For us, this is just a beginning. Through our collaboration with Dakota State University – a technology incubator, leader, and partner with Google – we intend to ding the universe.
Imagine helping with breakthrough technologies that will vastly expand horizons for those with complex needs, not just here in South Dakota, but everywhere. We ask you to join us in making a ding in the universe.
Thank you.
Sincerely,
Dan and Arlene Kirby

LifeScape works for the inclusion of children and adults who live with special needs and disabilities. Whether it’s through education, advocacy, training, or rehabilitation, LifeScape strives to help all excel in daily services to others.
Our “Journey of Hope” campaign extends our communities’ dedication to dramatically improve the lives of others.
As a parent of a child with special needs, I know firsthand what a difference LifeScape can make for families. When I dropped my son off for his first day of school, I was greeted by a staff member who told me she would love and care for him like he was her own child. What more could a parent ask for?
The new LifeScape state-of-the-art facility will allow many more children and adults to meet their fullest potential.
Our community and the whole state of South Dakota has a long, rich philanthropic tradition. Out here on the plains, we know how to take care of one another! I am proud to be part of this tradition by participating in the LifeScape “Journey of Hope” campaign.
The success of this effort will lead to the creation of a world-class facility right in our state where patients and their families can receive the care they desperately need.
It is an honor to be part of LifeScape’s “Journey of Hope” campaign. The result of this effort will allow LifeScape to enhance the already outstanding services it provides to those needing assistance in seeking a fulfilling life.
I am proud to serve on the steering committee of LifeScape’s “Journey of Hope” campaign. To render the best possible service to our community for the long term, LifeScape will build a facility that will crown its compassionate mission.
The new facility will expand the good LifeScape does day by day and year by year. This “Journey of Hope” underscores the caring of our entire community because, by our giving, we all make it possible.
